Niramaya Scheme 2024 :- Niramaya scheme was launched by the Odisha government in 2015 with an assurance to provide 720 medicines listed in the Emergency Drugs List at all the Government run hospitals and medical colleges free of cost to the patients. It started with 150 drugs in the list while the list has been updated to 570 numbers recently. It is managed by State Public Sector Odisha Medicine Corporation. The government has allocated an amount of Rs. 253 crores in the 2017-18 budget.

The government also announced to set up of 1102 drug distribution centres (DDCs) which will cover 1234 primary health centres (PHCs), 383 Community Health Centres (CHCs), 32 District Headquarters Hospitals (DHHs), 22 sub-divisional hospitals and 3 medical colleges.Under this scheme, an important objective has been set by the Orissa state government to provide free treatment to as many patients as possible, under which it is done by the State Medicine Corporation and this amount was introduced by the government in its budget.

Supervision and monitoring of DDCs are the responsibility of CDMOs / ADMO (Med) / Store Medical Officer at district level & head of the institution. II. Odisha State Medical Corporation:- Central Procurement of drugs and surgical and supply of drugs, consumables, surgical & sutures. III. Director of Health Services:- Overall monitoring of “Niramaya” scheme, Redressal of grievances related to shortages of drugs, etc, conducting prescription audit, preparation of annual procurement plan, etc. IV. Director of Medical Education and Training:- Overall monitoring and supervision of Niramaya in medical colleges.

Eligibility of Niramaya Scheme

• Patients who have done registration in the Govt. Hospitals are eligible to get free medicines under “Niramaya”.
• To avail the benefits of this scheme, it is mandatory to be a native of Orissa.
• Under this, medicine will be provided free of cost by the government.
• This scheme has been implemented for the economically backward classes.

Exclusions of Niramaya Scheme

• Govt. Employees are not eligible.
• Those who have strong financial condition also cannot apply for it.
• Those who contribute their government service for this scheme will not get letters.

How to Apply Offline for Niramaya Scheme

• First of all you have to register offline. https://www.e-niramaya.odisha.gov.in/login.aspx
• For which you will first have to go to the doctor and get this registration done after consulting him.
• Once the doctor signs it, your registration will be easily completed and the photocopies asked for by you have to be added to it.
• After adding this your registration will be complete and you can easily get free medicines from your nearest DDC.
