The Pradhan Mantri PM ScHools for Rising India is the full form of the PM Shri scheme. The Honorable Prime Minister of India Mr Narendra Modi has launched the scheme to set up various schools in India according to the latest technology and education.
This initiative is intended to develop more than 14500 PM SHRI Schools managed by Central Government/State/UT Government/local bodies including KVS and NVS. With the help of this scheme, the Government of India will set up a place where students can get education and knowledge about the latest technology and extracurricular activities.

PM Shri School Admission Benefits
- The Government of India centrally sponsors the PM SHRI School program.
- PM SHRI will provide high-quality education in a welcoming, egalitarian learning environment that values each child’s individual history, linguistic requirements, and academic abilities and encourages them to take an active role in their education.
- As envisioned by the National Education Policy 2020, it will cultivate students in such a way that they become active, successful, and contributing members of society.
- With the PM-SHRI project, 14,500 schools would be upgraded over five years at a total expenditure of Rs 27,360 crores.
- The schools will be built as green schools with solar panels, LED lighting, nutrition gardens, natural farming methods, trash management, plastic-free environments, water conservation, and harvesting.
- The program will encompass additional research into environmental practices, climate change-related workshops, and efficient knowledge management to adopt a healthier approach.
- Learning outcomes will be emphasized in every grade. Each assessment will be competency-based and emphasize conceptual understanding and application in the actual world.

Selection Process of PM Shri Scheme 2025
- The schools must be registered as elementary schools for classes 1st to 8th in any state.
- The schools must be managed by center/state/UT Governments/local self-governments having UDjSE+ code.
- The selection of schools under the scheme will be made through challenge Mode wherein schools will compete for support to become exemplary schools
- Selection will be done through a three-stage process with definite timelines.

- Schools need to have well-maintained buildings.
- Access without obstacles, like ramps.
- In its category, student enrolment is higher than the state average.
- Pay attention to safety.
- Separate areas for hand washing.
