By order of the Governor of the State of West Bengal, it has been decided to launch a “Aikyashree West Bengal State Scholarship Scheme for Minority Students”. To address the growing aspiration for education in the minority communities of the state and with a view to providing them more avenues for socio-economic and educational mobility by extending financial support and encouragement to the meritorious students belonging to the minority communities, the State Government has decided to set up the “Aikyashree” – West Bengal State Scholarships for Minority Students in West Bengal to be fully funded from the State budget from the financial year 2019-20 onwards.

Three types of scholarships will be provided under this scheme.

Objectives of Aikyashree Scholarships for Minority Students
- The primary objective of the Pre-matric Scholarship is to encourage the minority communities to send their children to schools and to prevent drop-out.
- The Post-matric scholarship intends to encourage students to continue their pursuit of higher education.
- The objective of Merit-cum-Means scholarship for professional and technical courses is to support the students to pursue professional/ technical studies for consequently increasing their employability potential.
- Through these three types of scholarship schemes, these schemes have been implemented to increase the interest of students towards their education and to strengthen their financial condition.

6 to 10th Class Scholarship for Scheduled Caste (SC)
Eligibility Conditions of All Three Scholarships Schemes
1. Pre-matric Scholarship, and
2. Post-matric Scholarship
- Applicant must be a domicile of West Bengal.
- Must be studying in a School/ Institution recognized by an educational Board/ Council/ University of the State/ Central Government.
- Must have secured not less than 50% marks or equivalent grade in the previous final examination.
- The annual family income should not exceed Rs.2 lakh.
- Students studying in institutes outside West Bengal will not be eligible for pre-matric or post-matric scholarship.
- No person from the student’s family should be working in a government job.
- Only two students from a family are provided benefits under these scholarship schemes.
- If the student does not take admission in the upcoming class then he/she will not be awarded scholarship.
3. Merit-cum-Means Scholarship
- The applicant must be a domicile of West Bengal.
- Must have got admission in a technical/ professional course.
- Must have secured at least 50% marks in the last Higher Secondary/ Graduation examination.
- Annual family income of the student should not be more than Rs.2.5 lakh.
- The students who are residents of West Bengal but pursuing studies in listed institutions located outside West Bengal, as may be notified from time to time by the West Bengal Minorities’ Development and Finance Corporation, are also eligible for applying.
- No person from the student’s family should be working in a government job.
- If the student does not get himself admitted in the upcoming class, his scholarship will be stopped under the policy of these scholarship schemes.
- This scholarship is awarded only to two students from a family.
6 to 10th Class Pre Matriculation Scholarship for Scheduled Tribes (ST) Application Form
4. Bigyani Kanya Medha Britti Scholarship, West Bengal
- The student must be a domicile of West Bengal.
- This student should be female.
- Candidates should have qualified Class 12th from any board.
- The student must be aspiring to pursue education in the fields of Engineering, Medicine or Basic Science at a known institution in West Bengal.
5. Swami Vivekananda Merit cum Means Scholarship (SVMCM)
- The student must be a domicile of West Bengal.
- The student must be studying in Class 11 or 12.
- The student must be pursuing graduation in Engineering, Medical and Technical/Professional courses if they are not studying the general Undergraduate or Postgraduate level degree courses.
- If the student is studying at the higher secondary level or pursuing diploma, he or she must have secured at least 75% marks in class 10th.
- If the student is studying at the undergraduate level, he or she must have secured at least 75% marks in class 12th.
- The annual family income of the student should not exceed ₹ 2.5 lakh.
- The scholarships will be sanctioned to deserving students on merit-cum-means criteria.
- Students pursuing M.Phil. courses and Doctoral courses from state-aided institutions are also eligible to apply for this scholarship.
6. Hindi Scholarship Scheme, West Bengal
- The student must be a resident of West Bengal.
- He or she should belong to a non-Hindi speaking state.
- The student must have passed any one of the following degree courses – Madhyamik, higher secondary, graduation, PG or any equivalent degree course
- The student must have secured at least 60% marks in the earlier qualifying exam, in the first trial, with Hindi as one of the subjects

Key Points For Aikyashree Scholarships
- Admission and tuition fee are subject to actuals.
- Hostellers include students not staying in hostel of the institute concerned but are staying as paying guest or on rent.
- Maintenance allowance is payable for a period not exceeding 10 months in an academic year.
- Full course fee may be reimbursed for the listed institutions.
- The applicant has to submit a certificate regarding family income at the time of application.
- For ‘renewal’ applicants, the continuance of scholarship will be subject to securing 50% marks in the previous year examination.
- Maintenance allowance will be provided to hostellers and day scholars.
- Students should be regular in attendance, for which the yardstick will be decided by the competent authority of the school.
- If a student violates school discipline or any other terms and conditions of the scholarship, scholarship may be suspended or cancelled. The State Government can also directly cancel the award if duly satisfied of the reasons of violation of these regulations governing the scheme.
- If a student is found to have obtained a scholarship by false statement, his/her scholarship will be cancelled forthwith and the amount of the scholarship paid will be recovered.
- The course/tuition fees and maintenance allowance will be credited to the student’s bank account directly under Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode.
- An amount not higher than 2% may be kept for administrative expenses by the WBMDFC for implementation of the Scheme.

Besides the scholarship amount, the student will also get a yearly book grant of ₹ 2000. |

Swami Vivekananda Merit cum Means Scholarship (SVMCM) | This is a merit-cum-means based scholarship.Students from Class 11 to PhD level candidates can apply for this scholarship programme.Financial support of up to ₹ 8000 per month is given to minority students depending on the level of education or program.The distribution of this scholarship fund is mainly based on the student’s academic advantage and financial need. |
5. Hindi Scholarship Scheme, West Bengal | This scholarship is offered to assist and support students studying the Hindi language in Non-Hindi speaking states like West Bengal.Students studying in higher secondary, undergraduate, postgraduate and research level courses (M.Phil., PhD or M.Lit. etc.) can apply for this scholarship. The chosen students can avail of the scholarship amount ranging from ₹ 300 to ₹ 1000 per month. |
Online Application Procedure of Aikyashree Scholarships Scheme
To continue with the Aikyashree application process, students must follow all six steps given below :-
I. Student Registration
- 1. Visit the official website of the WBMDFC portal or directly click on the Aikyashree Scholarship portal
- 2. Click on the New Registration
- 3. Select the District of your Institute
- 4. Enter the details like Name, District, Guardians Name, DOB, Mobile Number, Email ID and Bank Account Number in the registration form
- 5. Now click on Submit and Proceed.

II. Scheme Eligibility
- 1. Enter the details in the scheme eligibility column on the webpage like the current institution, its location, class or course name, the last exam passed, name of the board, year of passing the last exam, percentage marks obtained, annual family income and email ID.
- 2. Check the details carefully and click on the Submit & Proceed tab
III. Registration Completion
- 1. After completing the above step, a temporary User ID will be generated.
- 2. Check the email or inbox as the password will be sent there
IV. Student’s Login
- 1. Login with the User ID and Password on Student Log-In window
- 2. Enter the below-mentioned details:

- Bank Account Information
- 3. For extra safety, change the password (it is mandatory) and click on Submit
V. Final Submission
- 1. Enter the details under Basic Information option
- 2. Click Submit and Proceed

- 5. Fill Up Bank Account Information and verify
- 6. Finally, verify all the details by clicking the Pre-View tab

VI. Verification and Print Out
- 1. Carefully verify the details that have been entered in the previous step.
- 2. After ensuring the information that has been entered in the designated slots, take a printout copy of the application form.
- 3. Submit the application form at the concerned institute along with a photocopy of the bank passbook containing the bank account number and IFSC Code.
